It has been wonderful walking around and seeing all the children engaged and excited to be back in school. We have many opportunities to support student leadership and I encourage all of our students to put themselves forward for these roles, Student Council, Heads of House and Prefects are just a few of these positions across the whole school. Good luck to all of you who get involved and want to help lead and support your KIS community.<\/p>\n<p>Much gratitude to Tiggy (Year 7) and family, who took the time to improve the local environment near the school through litter-picking recently. The area looks much nicer and I understand there are plans to maintain and support less rubbish across our local community; more news to follow. Linked to outside of school, I have been informed that there are individuals selling chocolate type drinks from the back of their cars along the road. I just wish to advise you that this has nothing to do with KIS and we would not recommend the purchase of drinks for you or your children in this manner.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the week you should have received an email informing you of the introduction of WhatsApp as an official part of our communications. Our use of WhatsApp with the Groups (KIS NEWS \u2026) is intended for School Admin messages. Class messages from Primary will continue as usual with Class Dojo and through Class Ambassadors. Please make sure the school has your correct contact details. To help support communication, whilst I am generally available at the start and end of most school days, I will be under the walkway sitting by the benches every Friday morning and Wednesday afternoon. Please feel free to come and have a chat if there are any issues, or simply to say hello. I hope this idea of \u2018table talk\u2019 supports busy parents during drop off or pick up who just want a quick word rather than making an appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Other recent changes, include the introduction of a charge for extra copies of school documentation. We make every effort that Parents receive all school documentation. If you require extras these will now be charged at RM5 per sheet (as from September 1st 2019). Please help us reduce paper and ink consumption by storing your original documents in a safe place. To support this, we are working toward issuing electronic copies of student reports to parents, rather than paper copies. Also, if you are a Primary Parent, please read the Primary News as it explains a change in policy for the use of the climbing area (play-park at the front side of school) at the end of the school day.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, some thank you&#8217;s, for our Primary parents, thank you for your patience in dealing with our HFMD screening, I know you understand the reasons for this and will also understand when I explain that we will be making it policy to check all children after each long holiday before they enter school. Thank you also to our New Friends Team (NFT from the PTA) for welcoming many of our new families to KIS on Friday morning. Mrs Balvinder Kler gave an excellent presentation which was very well received by all.<\/p>\n<p>I wish you all a lovely long weekend and an enjoyable National Day.
