KIS Swimming Gala

KIS Swimming Gala

On Thursday 22nd of March around 350 students from Year 3 to Year 13 gathered together at the Likas Sports Complex for the 2018 KIS Swimming Gala!

All the students had been practising their swimming strokes, technique and improving their stamina throughout Term 2 and were prepared to demonstrate the skills they had learnt. The atmosphere was full of excitement and apprehension. Everyone was ready to do their best in their individual and relay races to try and win as many points for their House. As a result, several school records were broken, in some races not only once but twice! The school record for Girls 50m Backstroke was broken by Destinee. She also broke the school record for Girls 50m Breaststroke, along with Nikita. On the boysโ€™ side, Dean improved his own two-year-old record in Boys 50m Butterfly. The points were accumulated throughout the whole competition, including the teacher relays and water polo games. This year it was very tight with only two points between first and second position. Sulug were once again the victors!

Thank you to all the parents who came along to cheer for their children, the PTA for their help with the medals and snacks and to all staff for their support during the day! And, most importantly, the real heroes of the day; all the students who participated and competed in various races and made the 2018 KIS Swimming Galaย as special and successful as it was!
