Celebrating our Global Community
On Thursday 4th October students, parents and staff came together to celebrate the diverse global community of Kinabalu International School. A favourite fixture on the KIS events calendar, International Day is a whole school celebration of over thirty different nationalities that make up KK’s most established International School.
The event was successfully organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Students, parents and staff came to school wearing the national dress of their country and had the opportunity to share their culture and food in a fun day of activities, which were enjoyed by all. The school’s Hall was a feast for the senses. The supportive parent community went to great efforts to create eye catching displays that depicted their home country and prepare and share traditional food and activities with the community.
The Principal, Mr Ian Gross, commented “At KIS we are nurturing global citizens, teaching our students to be accepting of different nationalities, cultures and religions. Thursday’s event was just one of the many examples that we see during the year where our community pull together to create a very successful event that celebrates our diversity”.
