When I was considering moving from England to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2008, the first thing I asked about was whether there was appropriate schooling for my 12-year-old son, Miles. I couldnโt consider moving if there wasnโt. Luckily Kinabalu International School was well established, and Miles had a wonderful education and all-round life experience while enrolled there from Year 8 to Year 12. KIS provided all that I could have hoped for in a school; a safe and nurturing environment with teachers who treated Miles as an individual rather than a digit. KIS strived to bring out the best in Miles, and he learned well because he was taught intelligently by experienced and interested teachers, with significant but not excessive amounts of homework. At KIS, Miles enjoyed a well-rounded school life. He attended many after-school sports activities, and travelled within the region to take part in inter-school competitions between other international schools, in both sports and mathematics. The KIS experience is also a multi-cultural experience. Milesโ peers were from South Korea, France, the UK, Brunei and many other places. This broadened his view of the world and possibly his expectations of himself. Part of the KIS experience is also to learn about the local community in Sabah, through cultural exchanges, charity fundraisers, and well-supervised camping excursions. Miles has learned about environmental issues is Sabah, and attended events organized by KIS in conjunction with NGOs to create team-building exercises and nurture leadership ability.Miles was taking four โAโ levels at KIS, having achieved 9 extended-level IGCSEs with high grades. We are now moving to Australia, and we will remember KIS with much fondness and gratitude.

AS we are about to leave Sabah I wanted to take the time to express my sincere thanks to you and your teaching staff for all they have done to encourage my two children. We arrived in Sabah in 2008 and they immediately settled into their new environment thanks to the warmth and reassurance of teaching staff. As with may organisations, it is the commitment of the Team that really is the essence of success. Your teaching and support staff are a credit to your organisation. Your administration team are amongst the friendliest and helpful we have experienced anywhere in the world. The boys are extremely sad to be leaving and we hope the schools in Hong Kong will offer as good a learning experience.

KIS made me more independent, preparing me for my years in UK soon to further my studies. I have become more sociable, able to mix around with different students of other races from all over the world.

We would like to take the opportunity to express our most sincere gratitude to you for the immense support extended to our son Rifo. We could not have seen all the positive achievement Rifo has made all these years without your great and kind support, together with your great team.

Five years Iโve been a KIS student, and it only seems like yesterday when Mr.Shale introduced me to the class and everyone welcomed me with open arms. This is what KIS has done for me. They make education fun and exciting, in the most extraordinary way. Like they say, โTime flies when youโre having fun
