KIS Academic Staff
|
At Kinabalu International School we understand that our teachers are both our biggest expense and our greatest resource. The appointment and retention of well-qualified, skilled educators is integral to the high standard of education we provide for our students. KIS will not employ anyone without recognised formal teaching qualifications.
- Recruited from UK or British International Schools: New overseas teachers are appointed from UK schools or other British International Schools overseas. We invest significant time, effort and resources to ensure we employ the right teachers for our KIS students.
- Experienced in UK National Curriculum: All teachers must have a minimum of three years’ experience working with the UK National Curriculum.
- Safeguarding Protocols: All teachers are subject to safeguarding protocols and police checks prior to appointment.
- Appraisal system: All teachers take part in a rigorous Appraisal system.
- Professional development: A generous professional development budget and a supportive ethos encourages the extension of skills and knowledge to meet both school-wide and individual development targets.
KIS has an excellent staff retention record that is the envy of many schools across the region.
- Over 50% of our teachers have been with us at KIS for 4 years or more
- 90% of teachers employed in the last 10 years have extended their stay beyond the completion of their initial 2 year contract.
We believe this sends out a positive message to both our KIS community and potential new recruits to our staff team.
