Anyone who has a child at KIS or works as a teacher here is automatically a member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
Our raison d'etre is threefold, to:
- Organize fun, social occasions both for students, their families and staff
- Raise funds which will benefit our students and the school
- Provide a forum where parents, staff and Management can discuss ways to improve the overall educational experience of our students
Organized social events have included Mufti day, family fun at the beach, a disco and coffee mornings. We rely on parent support to run our events and always welcome new ideas and helpers. Please see the attached PTA monthly newsletter for details of upcoming events.
Many of our events help raise funds which are then used to benefit those at KIS. In 2010 the PTA bought stage curtains and some fantastic large outdoor play equipment. If you have an idea for how PTA funding could be spent, please complete the form: 'Request for funding from the PTA'. We welcome suggestions from all sectors of the KIS community.
All members are invited to attend the Forum meetings, held once every half term. This includes an update from the Committee about PTA issues and events, followed by a discussion time led by the Principal. This provides an ideal chance for parents to provide feedback and ideas as to how the school can be developed or improved. Recent discussions have included the 'role of the school library', 'the provision of after school care' and 'post 16 education at KIS'.
Please come and be involved!
