First Steps @ KIS is an informal group for parents and pre-schoolers. Each session is run by native English-speaking KIS staff with a wealth of experience managing and leading Playgroups in the UK. We aim to provide the opportunity for parents, carers and children to come together and have fun, make new friends and develop new skills in a safe, secure environment.
First Steps @ KIS is open to children from the age of 18 months and each session is limited to a maximum of 12 children with accompanying adults. Sessions take place between 8am – 10am on Tuesdays and Thursdays during KIS term time in a specially designed ground floor classroom area within the main school. The room is clean and air conditioned. Registered children and adults can arrive at any time during the session, although we do respectfully ask parents and carers to be considerate to others by not attending sessions if you or your child is unwell. We are not open on Public Holidays.
We have an established format for each of our sessions designed to provide a host of opportunities for young children to develop key skills;
- 08.00 – 08.45: Arrival of Children and Responsible Adults - Free Play fun!
- 08.45 – 09.15: Group activities include: playdoh, drawing, cutting and pasting, parachute fun, sand and water, painting, dance/movement skills, fine and gross motor skill activities.
- 09.15 – 09.40: Activity tidy up. Children sit together for drinks and snacks. Tea and coffee is provided for adults
- 09.40 – 09.55: Circle Time: stories, songs, music
- 10.00: Time to go home.
NB We operate a shoe free zone in our indoor play area!
Registration Forms are available from the School Office or can be downloaded from the website. Fees are non refundable and payable at the start of each term. Current fee details are available from the school office. Fees include access to both sessions each week, drinks, snacks and craft activities.
