KIS’ First Fitness Festival

KIS’ First Fitness Festival

Last month, students, parents and teachers came together for the first KIS Fitness Festival. The event was supported and led by local fitness businesses: Warrior Fitness, X45 and Valor Martial Arts. This free event attracted over 70 students and 30 parents who were keen to learn more about fitness activities on offer in the city.
Visiting coaches from Warrior Fitness, X45 Cross Fit and Valor Martial Arts hosted age-appropriate fitness activities for all to take part in, followed by a question and answer session with the coaches, as well as various demonstrations. Parents attended a nutritional seminar which provided useful information and guidance on providing a good nutritional balance to their childโ€™s diet.
Throughout the morning, there was a tremendous atmosphere of teamwork, hard work and fun and the Festival concluded with a final WOD (Workout of the Day). Mr Watson, PE Teacher, who organised the event commented: โ€œIt was wonderful to see the keen interest the school community displayed in the various activities on offer during the Festival. At Kinabalu International School we are passionate about ensuring our students understand the necessity of a healthy balanced lifestyle. We are grateful to the companies who gave up their time to spend educating our students, parents and staff on the benefits of their individual sports and the encouragement they gave to the students throughout the morning.โ€
