International Day at KIS

International Day at KIS

With 39 nationalities at Kinabalu International School the school had lots to celebrate as students and parents alike were busy with a wide range of activities last week for our International Day. The day started with a flag parade. Many students wore costumes representative of their home country and proudly paraded around the playground to their national anthem. The morning was then spent with students enjoying a carousel of different activities representative of the various nationalities at the school. Activities included French cooking, Indian henna painting, Malaysian traditional dancing, national games and learning new songs from around the world.

And while the students were busy, many of our parents were just as busy setting up stalls which offered delicious tasters of food from around the world, accompanied by colourful displays. Students, staff and parents all enjoyed feasting on these treats and, for many, trying something new.

The day concluded with a cultural performance by students from across the Primary and Secondary schools. We heard songs from Africa, music from Indonesia and China and a tribal dance from New Zealand.

The school is thankful to the parents, PTA, staff and students for all their efforts in making this such a memorable day.
