Celebrating Diversity at KIS

On Friday 14th October Kinabalu International School hosted its most popular event of the year, International Day. Organised by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), International Day is a whole school celebration of the multicultural community that exists at KIS. Students, parent and staff from the school’s 33 nations came to school wearing the national dress of their country and had the opportunity to share their culture, music and food. The day started with an International Parade, and was followed by parent-run food stalls, live performances and a number of exciting activities for students to enjoy.

The Principal, Alan Connah, explained “With over 480 students from 33 nations at KIS, we are committed to developing our students as global citizens, teaching them to be accepting of different nationalities, cultures and religions. Our International Day event provides a wonderful opportunity to bring together our community to celebrate our diversity.”
